1 Corinthians 6:20 (NLT)
For God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
Grace is absolutely free to all who come to Christ in faith, but it cost him is life. The main way we can show God that we appreciate his Son’s sacrifice is by giving up our lives in service to him and to others. We respond to God’s grace by expressing gratitude through giving our lives for his purpose. We have been given spiritual gifts, talents, and abilities to help other people find grace.
You can’t begin to understand the grace of God while living any way you want to live. Grace demands that we live differently, that we think differently, and that we act differently. Grace forces us not to waste our lives on things that don’t matter or to squander our time doing things that are not beneficial. Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we were spared just death for our sins for a reason. That reason is to make a different in the lives of the people around us.
God has saved us not for ourselves but for a purpose. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross gives us a sense of meaning and helps us to find our place in the world. The cross ensures that we don’t just exist but that we live meaningfully and usefully. God made us for a purpose, redeemed us for a purpose, and is glorified when we fulfill that purpose.
“How wise should we be if, with joyful certainty, we accepted each unfolding of His will as a proof of His faithfulness and love.”
