Psalm 23:3 (NLT)
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
We face decisions every single day. Many of them are small ones that can easily be made without much thought. But throughout our lives, we will at times face decisions that are on a bigger scale and require much more time and thought. Often when we’re faced with these momentous moments, we allow fear to creep into our lives and many times, fear leads to stress and stress results in indecision.
Maybe you are facing one of these big decision moments and wondering what to do and if you’re headed in the right direction. I’ve been here several times myself. God isn’t going to show you every crack and crevices in your journey right at the start. If he did that then few of us would feel the need to trust him and continuously trust him on a daily basis. So instead of doing that, he promises to guide us in right paths.
We don’t have to allow fear and stress to creep into our lives when we are faced with moments of indecision. We handle these feelings by letting God give us strength and guide us in his way. There is no method or formula to God’s will, however. And this is what many of us look for when attempting to discover God’s will. Then we grow more confused or disillusioned with the process when it seemingly is not clear to us.
God’s will is not a feeling or an emotion or something we should be afraid of. God is not trying to himself or his will from us. But we need to make sure we are not looking for the wrong things in an attempt to find God’s will. He promises to give us guidance but we must first open our hearts and lives up to him in faith and trust his guidance. If you trust him, he is guiding you; you only need to hold his hand every step of the journey.
“God does not guide those who want to run their own life.”
