John 14:18, 20 (NLT)
No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you…When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
No matter what you go through in life, what difficult situations you face, what adverse propositions you encounter, what tough people you have to face, you will not have to deal with it by yourself. God delights in walking alongside His children not so that He can carry us through everything but so He can show His power and provision in our lives. If you don’t know anything else or believe anything else, you need to know that God has your back all the way.
As believers, we are not only in God, but God is in us. We do not have to rely on our own energy or strength. We do not have to depend upon our own power. God promises to infuse us with the strength and give us the power we need to get through this life successfully. No matter what you are facing, if you learn to trust God, he will not only walk with you, but He will be in you. If God is in you and you are in God, you are protected and fortified against the difficult situations of life overtaking and overwhelming you.
God shows up for us just like a rescuer shows up to take in an abandoned child. God is the ultimate good father; He never leaves his children out in the cold to struggle all by themselves. He keeps us moving in the right direction not always by holding our hands, but by sending goodness and mercy along the way. He pushes wisdom, knowledge, and good understanding out the door behind us so we can know he is there going before us and with us.
We can be thankful that God does not leave us alone. He does not leave us the way we are, He does not abandon us like some earthly parents, friends, and family members do. God is the ever-present, always available, willing and ready heavenly father who hears us, answers us, comforts us, finds us, knows us, and restores us. You can get up every morning knowing that you have access to God’s power, you have the key to His presence, and that He has your back every step of the way.
When you know God has your back, you stop trying to fight all your battles. You stop trying to defend yourself from people who don’t like you. You stop trying to be in control of everything. You stop worrying about things and being afraid that something bad might happen. You start praying and trusting and obeying. You start believing the promises of God and being content where you are knowing that God guides those and gives to those who seek to do His will. Nothing gets past God and when you’re in Him and He’s in you, you gain a different perspective on adversity and you allow nothing to shake you, stop you, or depress you.
“As believers in Jesus Christ, our work is to believe while God works on our behalf.”
