Dare To Be Different

Many people don’t understand what it means to be different. If you really look at yourself in the mirror, you will see that you are already different in a thousand ways from every other person in the world. No two people are exactly alike. Not only are we all different in the way we look, dress, talk, and behave, we are also different in what we believe. We don’t all believe the same things or support the same things. We all don’t blend in perfectly with the status quo. Our puzzle pieces don’t fit perfectly in the puzzle. However, this is what makes the world beautiful.

Some people are afraid to be different. They are afraid to stand out in a crowd of people. They fear rejection and/or criticism for voicing their opinions and standing firm on their beliefs. But God wants to use people who choose to be different from everyone else. People who are different from everyone else, automatically stand out, even if they don’t want to. Being different is hard, but it is worth it.

Perhaps, when the road gets rough, we may stop and think, maybe we should turn around and just follow the crowd, do whatever everyone else is doing. Some people allow their ‘need to belong’ to stifle their differences. Yes, we want to belong to something or someone, and that feeling is completely okay and natural. But to want to belong to the mundane, mindless, common, same old same old, limited, small minded, non-inspirational mode of existence is not worth it.

Don’t be content just being okay. Successful people, truly successful people, run their lives their way. They don’t play by the rules. They don’t conform to the norms around them. They clearly know what they want, how much they want it, and what they need to do to get it. They set goals and work fast to get to them. If they must live by rules, they create them. They don’t see a wall of problems all the time, but they always see a vast ocean of opportunities. People who choose to be different make their own decisions and dare anyone to challenge them. They live the life they love and love the life they live.

Embrace your differences. Those who choose to embrace their differences are the ones who rise to the top, reach their potential, and succeed in life. Stop trying to fit your circle into a square. Dare to make your mark on the world! Dare to reach your destiny by choosing to not conform! Dare to live your life! Dare to use your God-given gifts and talents to make the world a better place. Dare to be difference!
