4 Things To Do When You’re Struggling To Decide (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 337)

4-things-to-do-when-youre-struggling-to-decide

“More choices in a limited time didn’t mean you could do everything; it meant you could do anything, so you probably did nothing, frozen with indecision.”
— Brent Weeks

Indecision is one of the most difficult places to be in. That space in between where you are and where you’re trying to go is like being in limbo. Limbo is worse than never leaving and never arriving. Limbo is getting stuck in the “in between”. Any possibility that might exist is almost completely erased when we get to the point where we can’t decide.

If the NSA snooped through your calendar, Evernotes, text messages, emails and online browsing history for the past year, what do you think they would find about your level of productivity and priorities? Did you check off on all your short-term and long-term goals? Or will they find a lot of things that are simply not complete or never started simply because you could not make a decision? Give Other People a Break (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 337)

James 3:17 (NLT)
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

We live in a far from perfect world among far from perfect people with a far from perfect self. What most of us need to learn to give and to receive more than judgment, hatred and criticism is love, kindness, and mercy. It isn’t because we deserve it or because we feel other people deserve it but because that is what we need, and it is wise to give people what they need to get through life. Continue reading

6 Approaches to Problem Solving (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 336)

6-approaches-to-problem-solving

“A sum can be put right: but only by going back till you find the error and working it afresh from that point, never by simply going on.”
— C.S. Lewis

We always look for the easy fix, that one single, simple little switch, change or stroke of luck that will completely erase, solve or reverse a problem. Very few things work like this in life, unfortunately. In fact, nothing worthwhile works this way. Problems are meant to be solved and sometimes the solution is one hundred small steps at a time in the right direction. The first step to solving a problem is to pay attention to how we view the problem to begin with and from there we can spend our time, energy, resources, and ability to crafting a good solution, implementing it, and waiting for both lessons and good results. God Has Your Back All the Way (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 336)

John 14:18, 20 (NLT)
No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you…When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

No matter what you go through in life, what difficult situations you face, what adverse propositions you encounter, what tough people you have to face, you will not have to deal with it by yourself. God delights in walking alongside His children not so that He can carry us through everything but so He can show His power and provision in our lives. If you don’t know anything else or believe anything else, you need to know that God has your back all the way.

5 Ways We Unconsciously Destroy Ourselves (365 Days of Spirited Living — DAY 335)

5-ways-we-unconsciously-destroy-ourselves

“Sometimes you hit a point where you either change or self destruct.”
— Sam Stevens

There is a thing commonly called self-sabotage and it is very real even in some of our own lives. We don’t necessarily set out to destroy ourselves. However, the little things we know we shouldn’t do if we really thought about them, but that we do anyway intentionally or unconsciously, on a fairly consistent basis, are what help to destroy our psyche and eventually our lives.

Let Go and Get to the End (365 Days of Daring Faith — DAY 335)

Philippians 3:14 (NLT)
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

We only have a limited amount of time, money, resources, and energy to do what we have been called to do in this life. Too often, we allow ourselves to get focused on what is behind us, what we have been through or are going through at the present moment, how someone has or is treating us or saying about us, or the environment in which we were brought up in, keep us back from focusing on the right things.
